Approach

What Therapy With Lina Is Like

My style is thoughtful, engaged, and collaborative. I approach each person with curiosity because I do not believe a diagnosis or list of symptoms can fully explain who you are. Your history, relationships, culture, strengths, and hopes all matter.

Our work will begin with careful listening. Together, we will explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships while considering how past experiences may continue to influence your present. A pattern that is causing difficulty now may once have helped you cope, protect yourself, or remain connected to others. Understanding that history allows us to approach change with greater compassion.

I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach rather than applying one method to every client. Depending on your needs, our work may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, somatic practices, hypnotherapy, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. We will decide together which approaches feel appropriate and useful. My goal is to help you feel supported while also offering enough structure and thoughtful challenge for therapy to lead somewhere meaningful.

Professional Background

Lina Costelloe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of OnPoint Counseling. With many years of clinical experience, she works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, women's issues and parenting concerns.

Lina’s approach to therapy is grounded in thoughtful listening, curiosity about each person’s story, and a strong belief in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Her work is trauma-informed, recognizing that past experiences often shape how individuals experience themselves, their emotions, and their relationships.

She integrates evidence-based clinical approaches with practical tools drawn from mindfulness practices and coaching methodologies. Lina has extensive training in life coaching and enjoys incorporating structured strategies that help clients gain clarity, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

In addition to her clinical work, Lina has significant experience working with clients experiencing anxiety and mood-related challenges, as well as individuals navigating ADHD, life transitions, and complex emotional stress. She works collaboratively with clients to understand patterns, strengthen coping skills, and create space for growth and healing.

Lina is also a clinical supervisor and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of therapists. She provides supervision and consultation to pre-licensed clinicians and enjoys supporting therapists as they develop confidence, strong clinical skills, and a sustainable professional identity. Her supervision style emphasizes thoughtful reflection, ethical practice, and cultivating authentic clinical presence.

As the founder of On Point Counseling, Lina has created a practice that values high-quality care, professional collaboration, and ongoing learning. She believes that therapists who remain curious, reflective, and supported in their work are best able to provide meaningful care to the clients they serve.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Founder and Clinical Supervisor

I am the founder of On Point Counseling and a clinical supervisor for pre-licensed therapists. I am passionate about helping developing clinicians build confidence, strengthen their clinical judgment, and develop an authentic and sustainable professional identity. My supervision style emphasizes thoughtful reflection, ethical practice, strong clinical skills, and genuine presence with clients. I believe therapists provide their best care when they remain curious, continue learning, and have meaningful professional support. I created On Point Counseling around those same values: excellent clinical care, collaboration, accountability, and ongoing growth. My goal is to build a practice where clients feel genuinely supported and therapists have the guidance and resources they need to do their best work.

If you are ready to understand yourself more deeply, strengthen the ways you cope, and create meaningful change in your life, I invite you to schedule an appointment. I look forward to learning your story and exploring how I can support you.
