Living with Chronic Disease
Therapy for living well with a chronic condition.
A chronic illness changes more than your health. It can reshape your identity, your relationships, your work, and your sense of what the future holds. Therapy helps you carry the emotional weight of a long-term condition and build a life around it that still feels like yours.

What living with chronic disease can look like
Grief for the body or the plans you had before. Anxiety before every appointment or test result. Exhaustion from managing symptoms, medications, and a medical system that does not always listen. Anger, or guilt about being angry. Relationships that have changed because you cannot do what you used to. Symptoms that are hard to explain to others — or that others doubt. A diagnosis that has become the first thing about you, when it is not.

How therapy helps
We work with the whole person, not the diagnosis. Sessions make room for the grief and anger that illness brings, build practical strategies for anxiety, pacing, and the medical rollercoaster, and help you re-find identity, relationships, and meaning alongside the condition. Kira Webber brings neuropsychology-informed therapy to work with chronic illness, chronic pain, and neurological conditions; Josh Bowes-Carlson works with health-related worry and caregiver fatigue. We coordinate with your medical team when that is useful to you.

Frequently asked questions
My doctors are handling the illness. What does a therapist add?
Your medical team treats the condition; therapy treats living with it — the anxiety, grief, identity, and relationship changes that medicine does not reach.
I am too tired for weekly sessions. Can we go slower?
Yes. Frequency and session length are set around your energy, and online sessions mean no travel on hard days.
Is this covered by insurance?
We work with most major plans, including Medicaid and TRICARE, and verify your benefits before your first session.
